The three models in the Autoreel pipe coiler range
are designed primarily for producing freestanding
coils of medium and high density extruded
polyethylene pipe from 50mm OD up to 180mm
OD.
The coilers are production line machines taking
pipe directly from the haul off unit at the end of
the extrusion line. The coilers produce neatly
packed coils and leave the pipe ends free and
without any deformation to enable trouble free
joining during installation. Potential pipe end
damage at start up is eliminated by the method of
pipe attachment used. During coiling the pipe is
layered automatically onto a cantilevered coiling
head. The coiling heads are adjustable to
accommodate different coil diameters and widths
and they allow each layer of the coil to be
manually strapped in up to six positions around
its circumference. The trailing end of the pipe is
pushed neatly into the coil by a hydraulic arm
whilst the operator applies the final strapping to
the pipe end. A powered collapse feature on the
coiling head releases the pressure on the internal
diameter of the coil and rotates the outer side
flanges to a position which allows easy coil
removal by the built-in unload arm (optional on
all coilers). The unload arm swings through a
large angle in the horizontal plane thus placing
the completed coils well clear of the coiling head
and enabling the next coiling cycle to be
started.
To give maximum operating flexibility the machines
can be mounted on wheel assemblies (one of which
may be power driven and
steerable) making them fully mobile. This
enables the machine to be easily moved between
extrusion lines.
All coilers in the Autoreel range are designed
for one-man operation with all controls
ergonomically positioned on a single control panel
adjacent to the coil strapping position.
